Hundreds of New Yorkers, including Governor David Paterson, gathered at New York City’s Union Square Thursday night to rally for marriage equality. The rally was the second in two nights in response to the state senate 38-24 vote Wednesday against legalizing same-sex marriage.

A ferocious Sen. Tom Duane joined Gov. David Paterson, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, his colleague in the state Senate Liz Krueger, activist actress Heather Mazzarato and many others at a rally attended by at least a thousand in Union Square last night.

Others at the rally called for rallying at the houses and offices of those who voted against gay marriage. Marriage Equality New York is forming a new group, Act Now, for people who want to be more pro-active in the marriage fight.
