Project Pushback invites voters to help select the best short video promoting the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.

The contest, sponsored by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York City, asked videographers nationwide to submit work they believe would be likely to “change the hearts and minds” in favor of marriage equality. Nearly 70 entries were received.

Voters are invited to visit the Project Pushback Web site from now until June 15, and nominate their pick for best video.

Entries include the one below from Sam Paige and his partner, Bronson. They married last year in California, and want viewers to know that they are no different from anyone else, despite Prop 8.

“Here’s our wedding license,” says Sam. “It’s issued by the state of California. Please tell me why I should be invalidated because of my sexual orientation.”

The entry receiving the most votes will receive a $1,000 prize, and a panel of industry experts will select the Grand Prize winner, who will be awarded a $2,500 prize. All voters have the opportunity to enter a free drawing for a $1,000 video camera.
