Happy Monday (vol. 47) — Not In Kansas Anymore

Happy Monday — By Speak Equal on March 15, 2010 at 8:00 am

I spent the weekend rubbing elbows with some of the Midwest’s most prominent and affective community leaders and organizers.

By lunchtime of the first day, I said to myself, “I’m definitely not in Kansas, anymore.”

There were founders, artists, writers, visionaries, organizers galore! All with inspiring ideas and thoughts. Everyone had an opinion, and everyone’s opinion was valid.

There was time to speak, listen, and learn … but, my favorite thing was the fact I never once felt alone. A true spirit of grassroots, boots-to-ground connectivity thrived in that environment. Everyone had a story to share, something they were trying to bring and/or develop within their community.

It was probably one of the most eye-opening, interesting, inspirational experiences I’ve had in the last year.

I look forward to applying what I’ve learned in spirit and in practice right here in good ole’ West Michigan ;)
