Happy Monday (vol. 51) — Barack Hussein Obama
Happy Monday — By Speak Equal on May 3, 2010 at 8:00 amOkay, okay … so, granted Americans are among the most heavily taxed citizens in the world, but ummmm … we also enjoy the highest standard of living compared to any other country in the world as well.
Let’s break down what that means:
5. We produce the most waste of all countries in the world, which conversely means we have the greatest demand for waste management systems (this means waste water, solid waste, etc.).
4. We enjoy and consume the most energy of all countries in the world, which conversely means we have the highest demand for public officials to manage the public portions of the energy industry.
3. We have the highest number of imprisoned citizens of all countries in the world, which conversely means we have the highest demand on our public detention facilities in the world.
2. The U.S. has the highest murder rate of all countries in the world, which conversely means we have the highest demand for law enforcement.
1. Most importantly, we spend the most money of all countries in the world on defense research and development … and our military, both of the ongoing wars, and all equipment utilized within those wars is funded by … you guessed it … your TAX dollars!
… this is just a start. Someone must manage our roads, public school system, public libraries, public museums, public transportation, public parks and recreation, public law enforcement/medical/fire safety personnel, disaster relief … all of that including supplies, salaries, building maintenance, retirement, and health benefits… funded by our tax dollars (and before we get started down the “privatization” road, not everything can be made into a business, folks).
Am I saying all of these institutions and agencies run like a well-oiled machine? Absolutely not.
But am I grateful that we at least have them at all and can work to strengthen them?
You bet your sweet ass I am.
Happy Monday, folks.
