Happy Monday (vol. 53) — Right wing policies are just downright unhealthy …

Sorry … couldn’t resist … I listened to an NPR special a few weeks ago on the Arizona immigration law, and it’s been on my mind ever since.

There was literally an 87-year-old lady on there talking about how she doesn’t lock her doors, has never encountered violence or theft, and has never had a negative experience with the immigrants that have cut across her land in recent years. Then, contrast that by a hysterical, middle-aged man who recently went out and purchased handguns because he was “tired of the violence” and fearful for his well-being.

According to other pro-immigration restriction “activists,” it’s right-wingers with our lovey-dovey rhetoric that’s in danger of ruining this country.

Well, pardon our “give us your poor and weak” rhetoric!

I'm not a right winger, but I actually favor tighter boarder patrols. The issue isn't so much satety as it is fairness. There are ways to become a U.S. citizen other than sneaking in or being born here. There are ways to apply for citizenship.

It's not fair that I have to pay for services for someone who shouldn't be here in the first place.
