Listen - I am a lesbian and I'm not afraid to tell people. I am definitely out and I am pro gay rights!!! I vote that way and speak my mind. However I would like to point of the irony of wanting to be counted as a people. One of the primary problems in this country is the division of one group from another. We are all people and we all have different traits and similarities. I feel that we are over-classified. I am black/ african american/ caucasion/ mutt and I am always prompted to categorize my race. I think it is ridiculous that we cannot all just be human. If that were the case gay rights would not be an issue because "couples" would be the ones to marry. The color of your skin, who you f&%k, your religion or lack thereof, and how curly your hair are do not matter to me and they should not matter to the federal government either.
